This is Main Street--a gravel road that goes through the center of commerce. Our cottage is right on the road, so we get a chance to watch all the activity--who leaves on the ferry, who shows up, etc. It's amazing how really nosey one can become after a few weeks of peace and quiet! I love the shadow cast by the big chestnut tree, reminding me of the Longfellow poem memorized in the 8th grade--"Under the spreading chestnut tree, the village smithy stands...."
